Eats Everything & Justin Martin // The Gettup

21 Jun

In case you missed it a couple weeks back tune in and grab this banger from Eats Everything and Justin Martin. A text from dirtybird:

Dirtybird’s troublesome twosome, Eats Everything and Justin Martin, join forces once again for a single-track release, ‘The Gettup’. Marking the first official collaborative release on dirtybird for the pair, ‘The Gettup’ channels midsummer mayhem just as much as it does a heaving basement, combining the artists’ penchant for house music frivolity and organ-shaking bass in equal measure.
Eats and Justin sculpt a sultry house groove from the off, interspersing the slinky sounds with mischievous vocal effects. An initial percussion breakdown paves the way for perhaps the most filthy bass line crunch you ever heard: all bow down to the almighty Gettup! Vivid chord stabs, vocal reverbs and some seriously inspired drum work all pull their weight on this skillful, larger than life club record. Then again, what else would you expect from dirtybird’s first transatlantic bromance collar.

dirtybird Players (Part 2)

11 Mar

DBP_parts_3.0

Part two of the massive dirtybird players compilation is here. This time we feature some of the labels biggest Europe based acts Eats Everything & Catz n Dogz along with some European newcomers GoldFFInch, Friend Within & 6 Stroke.  In addition we still got that old school Cali crew repping with Leroy Peppers and Claude VonStroke as well as our newest addition Mark Starr from Florida.

This half of the comp goes all the way from booty bass to deep house to future dubstep and represents the various styles and directions of the label. Again, we like to keep the words short and sweet and let the music do the talking.

We hope you enjoy it.

Justin Martin & Eats Everything // Feather Fight EP

12 Feb

justin martin eats everything feather fight

The opening offering on the EP, ‘Feather Fight’, sets the tone with more of a jacking house rhythm. The track progresses to its mid-point with a continually rising, paranoid note hinting at something sinister before it breaks into a mélange of warbling synths and soft bassy undertones that are rich in variation. It’s an instantly addictive and subtly infectious track that sees both producers exercising restraint to create a production with that ‘get in your head’ quality.

The second track, ‘Harpy’, is similar to the first in that lures you into a false sense of the security. Its opening lines are all ambient harps and soft string textures with the vocal telling you it’s “time to let go”, before melting away in dramatic fashion with a fog-horn blast. The rest ofthe track is an ode to these rich contrasts, with the harp continuing to play its part as well as the broad, depthy bass weight.

Two of the most effervescent characters in house music have penned an EP consistent with their brilliantly colourful personalities, and in the process Hypercolour continue to confound expectations with something far removed from previous offerings. (Hypercolour SC, 2013)

Justin Martin // Ghettos & Gardens Remixes Vol. 2

2 Dec

ghetto remixes 2

Justin Martin‘s ghetto garden has produced another hefty harvest: a second remix volume from his widely-acclaimed “Ghettos & Gardens” with refixes of all shapes and sizes from some of Justin’s favorite producers and best mates. Claude VonStroke takes the vocals of the title track and crafts them into an acid bomb of nuclear proportions, while Eats Everything’s Ruff Stuff reruff is a big, Bristolian bully: properly bass-heavy. Leroy Peppers and Shadow Child both bring a 90s DnB vibe to the table; Pepper’s remix of Don’t Go is crispy and featherlight, while Shadow Child blasts Riding Spaceships through a galaxy of space beats, breaks, and builds. A double-stack of Gurner goodness: Tanner Ross strips the croonin’ tune down to a lonely snap and a synth, while Willis Haltom and LOPAZZ choose to give it a warehouse party treatment with synth stabs, Roland rumbles, and a hefty acid attitude. To round out the release, Kill Frenzy adds some of his signature twerked-out bass to Butterflies while Pezzner delivers a thumping, tribal beast of a Molokini remix, replete with cavernous layers of percussion and singing sirens. (dirtybird SC, 2012)
