Hector Moralez // I’m a House Brand

8 Jul

Hector Moralez

I’m A House Gangster‘s sixth release comes from Hector Moralez, who say’s it is an EP created with one man in mind: “This EP was especially made for Sneak. I wanted to come correct, and make something dope… That’s Hard!”

The three tracks, introduced by Hector:o
“Freakin’ Molly” – For one, I like Molly. This track was made right before I went to the States for a visit. I was inspired by hip hop, wanted something dirty for the dance floors, got the concept after finding a hilarious video from A$AP & Danny Brown, and sampled the vocals to make the track. I watched these videos, and kept laughing for days, then I made the track with dancefloor freaks in mind. I wanted something HARD with a sense of humour! Just listen to the lyrics in the track, this shit is funny!

“Brand New” – was made right after coming home from the States, and I was refreshed from the visit and itching to get back in the studio, this was the outcome!

“Acid By Numbers” – was made right before WMC Miami 2013 – I produced this track specifically for the “I’m A House Gangster” WMC Party!

Rising from Oakland, California, Hector Moralez has paid his dues by working tirelessly from the bottom up. Now in demand at clubs and events throughout the world, he is renowned for his intelligent and soul awakening house music. His music has been found on many stellar labels including: Music For Freaks, Nightshift, Detour, Vista, Brique Rouge, Magnetic, Apollonia, Pacha Recordings, Doubledown, Lowdown Music, and Robsoul. Now based in Paris, France – a move that made his latest collaboration with longtime collaborator Chris Carrier, possible. The duo released their debut album “Lotus S7ven” on the hyped French imprint Apollonia. This LP spawned a new (live) show, a first for Hector – pushing boundaries, creating a new sound, and taking his career to the next level. Hector also manages his own distinguished underground labels, Minority Music and The Factory.

A bonafide House Gangster from the start, Hector is well placed to give his take on how the movement has developed: It started out small and keeps on growing and growing! It’s a way to support the people behind the brand, and show some love. We’re all part of this dance music community and supporting each other, is the only way to keep it really alive. House is a minority in the big picture of EDM, Dance Music, whatever you wanna call it, so I think the HG sound is something you don’t have to think about, it’s always gonna be HOUSE. And hopefully the wide range of audiences will take the chance and see whats up with the soul and vibe that makes House Music one of the BEST.”

French Fries // Drums / Traxx

After the release of their acclaimed 1st anniversary compilation, ClekClekBoom Recordings already have another EP ready to go, coming in the shape of a vinyl-only white label from CCB’s co-founder and figurehead French Fries
Having supplied the imprint’s inaugural “What to Do / One ting Dub” white label in July 2012, the second installment finds the producer going back to an prior analogue jam session, where producer used only his beloved Minimoog Voyager, an old Sequential Circuits drumtraks and the classic TR 909.
Inspired by Chicago’s producers from the Dance Mania era, French Fries also lays down his own vocal freestyle of “Drums-Traxx” across the EP.

The first part, ‘Drums’ uses an infectious acid bassline to cut through an overdriven Detroit inspired groove.
The flipside, “Traxx” is the result of a lengthy jam session with Chaos in the Cbd in French Fries’ studio and uses the same sounds for a different purpose. For this Chicago flavoured version, a 4×4 kick propels the groove accompanied by loose, pitched toms and distorted hats

“Drums / Traxx” undoubtedly drips with old-school Detroit & Chicago House influence but as the impassioned vocal chant of the EP title sprinkled across both tracks reinforces, it is not purporting to be anything but a sincere, superbly executed homage to a classic era.
